Tallest Hanuman statue in the world at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh | Hanuman statue is situated at Jakhu hill near a temple in Shimla

A statue of Lord Anjaneya in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh created a record as the tallest statue in the world. This is constructed at an altitude of 8,500 feet on a hill called Jakhu near a Hanuman temple in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Height of the statue is 108 feet. Earlier this record was in the name of a Jesus Christ statue that is said to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is called ‘Christ the redeemer’ in Brazil. Statue of Christ is at an altitude of 2,296 feet from sea level and the height of this statue is 98 feet. One and half crore rupees were spent on construction of this statue. This is also the tallest Hanuman statue in the world. It took two years to complete this statue made with cement. Construction was started on 26th October, 2008 and was completed recently. Naveen Kumar belonging to Rajasthan made this statue. Many obstructions have to be faced during the construction of this statue. As there was snow fall during winter, artists could not work at such a height. Nearly 1500 tonnes of cement and steel are used for constructing the statue.
There is a story behind the temple near which tallest hanuman statue is constructed. It is believed that when Hanuman was bringing Sanjeevani Mountain he took rest for some while on this hill.
