Murudeshwar, Goa and Mangalore are famous tourist attractions and many travel via Bangalore to reach these places. Some opt via Mangalore route. But both these are not very convenient. Mangalore, Udipi, Murudeshwar, Gokarna are on the banks of Arabian Sea which is a western border for the state of Karnataka. Western Ghats are also situated as a wall with a width of 100 to 150 kms. Jog waterfalls, Kollur Mukambika Devi temple, Shringeri, Horanad, Dharmasthali and Kukke Subramanya temple are located on these hills. On the other side of the hills, there is a town Hassan, Belur and Halebid are situated on one side of Hassan at a distance of 20kms, Shravanabelagola is situated at a distance of 30kms on the other side of Hassan.
Tourists who want to visit all these places should start their tour from Gokarnam and end with Shravanabelagola. To reach Gokarnam, travel via Karwar from Bangalore or go to Hubli by train and catch a bus to Gokarnam from there. Konkan Rail route from Goa to Mangalore touches Gokarnam, Murudeshwar and Udipi. But railways stations of all these three are located 10kms away from the towns. So bus journey would be most convenient.
Tourists have to stay in a hotel or a lodge in Gokarnam, Halebid and Belur. Temple choultry is available at Shravanabelagola. Rooms are given for rent. Food is provided to devotees irrespective of caste and religion in Kollur, Shringeri, Horanadu, Udipi and Kukku Subramanya temples.
