Rajahmundry to Godavari is the route everyone selects to visit Papaikondalu.  People who go to Papikondalu via Bhadrachalam are very rare.  APTDC is offering new package to introduce this journey to the city dwellers.  Trail run was held for three days.  Media personnel were invited.

The tour begins with the darshan of Lord Rama at Bhadrachalam.  This temple also has the idols of Goddess Sita, Rama and Lakshman.  An inscription that was made by Ramadas, which allows people of all religions into the temple can be seen in the temple.

Ornaments made by Ramadas for Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman are displayed in the exhibition. Entrance fee for this exhibition is Rs.2.

Parnasala near Bhadrachalam

Parnasala is located at a distance of 35kms from Bhadradri.  According to the sthalapuranam Rama, Sita and Lakshmana lived in a Parnasala in this place during their exile and demon Ravanasura took away Sita from this place.

Boat journey to Papikondalu

After travelling 65kms from Bhadradri through dense forests one can reach Pochavaram boating point.  This is the starting point of the boat journey to Papikondalu. Two hours journey in the boat takes the visitors to a place called Kollur where Pamuleru and River Godavari meet.

One has to see the scenic beauty around at kollur with Papikondalu around, heaps of sand, flowing waters and dinner in front of bonfire.  Night stay is arranged in bamboo huts.  Sleeping in the huts looking at the stars in the lap of nature is the most memorable experience and is the highlight of the tour.

Perantapalli is a 45 minutes journey in a motor launch from Kollur.  There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva here.  There are no priests in the temple.  One can see the locations that appear in  Telugu movie director Vamsi’s movies can be seen at Perantapalli. Tourists are taken back to Kollur for lunch and then back to Pochavaram. Boat journey to Papikondalu ends here and  tourists can go back to their places by bus from Bhadrachalam.

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is offering a tour package to Papikondalu.  Bus to Bhadrachalam, starts from Basheerbagh in Hyderabad on each Friday at 09.00pm.  The bus comes back to Hyderabad after Saturday and Sunday tour on Monday morning.  Tourists have to pay Rs.2,800 per one person for AC bus and Rs.2,300 for non-AC bus.  Accommodation in the bamboo huts at Kollur has to be shared with other passengers.
