Famous hill stations on Himalayan Mountains are Darjeeling in West Bengal, Mussoorie in Uttaranchal, Almora and Shimla, Kulu, Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh is more beautiful than Shimla and Manali as a summer retreat. Gangtak, capital city of Sikkim is also a wonderful place.

Araku valley in Andhra Pradesh should be considered as a picnic spot rather than a hill station. Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra enthralls the tourist with nature’s boundless beauty. This is also the birth place of River Krishna. Another wonderful place is Mount Abu which is situated at the borders of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Of all these one of the most wonderful place is Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya. Depending on the opportunity and interest the tourists can visit other beautiful places in Khasi Garo hills which are situated around Shillong. Expenses at Shillong are less when compared to other places like Shimla and Manali.
